When it comes to our spray pots and canisters here is some information we are frequently asked

Here are some commonly asked questions about spray adhesives and their answers:

Will my existing glue gun fit your hose?

Yes, all common canister adhesive spray guns fit our hoses.

Will my existing hose fit your canisters?

All common canister hose connections fit our canisters - yes.

If I change to your glue canister, can I still use my adhesive gun & hose without having to flush the system through?

Yes, you can if both your current and the TensorGrip® spray glue adhesive are both solvent based; however, if you are changing from a water based to solvent-based, this will congeal the adhesive. If you are unsure please contact our technical team for advice.

Why does my canister spray in a jet rather than the normal web fan spray?

This is likely to be caused by the canister being too cold. The solutions to this are to bring the canister back to room temperature. This can be done by either storing in a warm environment for 12 hours or if you are looking to speed this process up simply place in a large container and fill the container around the canister with hot / warm water (doesn't need to be boiling).

Leave in this position for 30 minutes then remove and shake for a short period of time. Now begin to spray, and you should find this will have resolved the problem.

Are any of your canister adhesives fire rated?

Yes, L17 (formerly PG107) is Fire Rated Class 1. However, please remember that it is important that all components of the composite product are also FR Class 1 rated.

Veneer - Can I bond veneers with any of your spray adhesives?

Yes, you can with some of the higher grade TensorGrip® adhesives, but please contact our technical team for more information about the best product for your application.

Do you have an adhesive that will bond vinyl without plasticising?

Yes, we do, L70 is a plasticizer resistant adhesive in a canister for bonding vinyl.

How do I apply pressure to achieve a maximum bond?

Use a 75mm rubber J roller (please see our spray adhesives accessory section) as a minimum requirement or alternatively a mechanical nip roller. Platen presses are not recommended.

Do I need to use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when using this spray glue?

Health and safety requirements are site specific. Please refer to relevant SDS. If you require this, please contact our team.

Will I get any Overspray?

This is down to operator control and guidance on spraying these glues; however, normally this is minimal.

Do I need to clean my substrates before creating a bond?

Yes, all substrates MUST be clean, dry, free from oil/grease and any other contamination. Clean with a proprietary solvent cleaner. DO NOT USE white spirit or oil-based cleaners, or natural citrus cleaners which leave residues.

How do I clean the substrates?

You should use a fast drying solvent based panel wipe or similar, and DO NOT use any CITRUS or OILY CLEANERS which leave residues e.g: white spirit.

What types of materials can spray adhesives bond?

Spray adhesives can bond a wide range of materials including wood, metal, plastic, fabric, foam, and many others. Some spray adhesives are formulated for specific materials and provide a stronger bond for those materials.

The drying time for a spray adhesive can vary depending on the type of adhesive and the conditions in which it is used. Generally, it takes between 5 to 15 minutes for a spray adhesive to dry, but some adhesives may take longer or shorter to dry, depending on the application.

How do I remove spray adhesive from my skin or clothes?

Spray adhesives can be difficult to remove once they have dried. For skin, you can try using soap and water or a solvent such as acetone to remove the adhesive. For clothing, try soaking the area in warm soapy water or using a solvent such as rubbing alcohol or vinegar.

Can spray adhesives be used on vertical surfaces?

Yes, spray adhesives can be used on vertical surfaces, but they may run or drip if applied too heavily. To prevent this, apply a light, even coating to the surface and allow it to dry completely before applying the second layer.

Can spray adhesives be used outdoors?
